Emerging Rockett Queen Will Bring Their Signature “New Rock” Sound and Style to Dallas for a Free Show at the Gas Monkey.
Rockett Queen's Brand of “New Rock” will be on display in Dallas for a Free Show on Friday, January 16th at the Gas Monkey Bar N' Grill with The Kul, Manny The Martyr and Dark Avenue
Dallas, Texas, January 05, 2015 - Over the years, East Texas has become synonymous with great country music talent. After all, East Texas is home to the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame, located in Carthage. Deeply rooted talent including George Jones, Neal McCoy, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Ray Price, Lee Ann Womack, Whiskey Myers, Curtis Grimes, Johnny Horton, Tex Ritter, Jim Reeves, Mark Chesnutt, Clay Walker and Chris Tomlin to name a few, have blossomed into stars and carved out their own marks in an extremely competitive music industry.
Although country music has been the predominant choice in this area for many years, the musical landscape is undergoing a cultural shift with evolving choices in music as the Millennial Generation becomes bona fide taste-making consumers. East Texas is bearing witness to the emergence of the “New Rock” band, Rockett Queen, ready to flex its musical muscle.
Their brand of “New Rock”, a sub-genre of heavy metal that fuses elements of classic rock, heavy metal, with hints of other genres, including modern rock, punk, grunge and new country, will be on display when Rockett Queen hits the stage at 8:00 PM along with The Kul, Manny The Martyr and Dark Avenue on Friday, January 16th Gas Monkey Bar N' Grill.
Rockett Queen have paid their fair share of dues since bursting onto the scene in '03 and earning the title "Best Unsigned Band in America" by MTV. The recent cancelation of the band's major tour of North America in support of Creed singer Scott Stapp due to his well documented health issues would disrupt the progress of most bands striving to reach new plateaus in the music industry, but not Rockett Queen. The band utilized the suddenly available block of time to complete their new record with Songwriter/Producer Zac Maloy (Carrie Underwood, Saliva, Blake Shelton, Orianthi, Adam Lambert, Our Lady Peace, Shinedown, Michelle Branch, Cavo and Black Stone Cherry among others) tentatively titled “Light The Fuse” and to be released in the summer of 2015.
“To say we were disappointed that the Scott Stapp “Proof of Live” Tour was canceled is an understatement, said Singer/Guitarist Walter Lee.” “The tour would have taken the band to multiple major markets from the South, the West Coast, the Midwest and back again and we had big plans to hold a press event on the roof of the Hyatt on the Sunset Strip.” “In all honesty, it would have been great to see our fans, not to mention it would have been very interesting to witness the potential drama behind the scenes as the tour proceeded”.
Rockett Queen also found the time to repackage their 2011 EP, "Goodnight California" with new artwork and the addition of two new tracks, "Hey God” and "Attitude" for release around the globe in the first quarter of 2015. The band completed the first of three new videos for “Goodnight California”, “To Be Loved and A'Live”: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=zIACkdajI14&feature=youtu.be.
The band is currently editing two new videos and two new lyric videos for the tracks, "I Hate You" (performance video) and "Since You've Been Gone" (concept video).
Storming out of East Texas, Rockett Queen burst onto the scene in 2003 and has since been a force with which to be reckoned. Fronted by charismatic, explosive lead vocalist/guitarist Walter Lee, and driven by the untamed Jay Scars on lead guitar, Chaz Graves on bass, and Se Ven on drums, they have cultivated immense recognition and rave reviews.
Not every band can boast the title "Best unsigned band in America"... Rockett Queen can. Rockett Queen quickly earned the title "Best Unsigned Band in America" by winning the contest that led their hit single "The Next Big Thing" to be featured in the full length film "John Tucker Must Die." This earned them a spot on the soundtrack along with The All American Rejects, Cartel, Ok Go and many more. With the buzz building, it wasn't long before MTV beckoned and featured "The Next Big Thing" in their hit TV show "Newport Harbour." Rockett Queen has persevered playing thousands of shows for over 25,000 fervent fans with artists including Hinder, Powerman5000, Fuel, The All American Rejects, Yellowcard, New Found Glory, Story Of The Year, Bowling For Soup, Coheed and Cambria, Thrice, Bad Religion, The Sounds, Senses Fail, My Chemical Romance and Thursday, in addition to multiple stops on the Vans Warped Tour.
Rockett Queen is preparing to unleash their new record, “Light The Fuse” in the summer of 2015. The tentative first single from the album, "Time Bomb", was co-written by Walter Lee, Zac Maloy and Reid Henry (My Darkest Days). The forthcoming, yet to be titled record is being recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with producers Zac Maloy and Rockett Queen's Walter Lee. The record will be mixed and mastered by Derek Taylor and will feature notable guest appearances by Rich Redmond (Jason Aldean) and Neil Tiemann (Shinedown, David Cook).
